Maureen Janson (she/her/hers)

Maureen Janson is a veteran choreographer, movement specialist, and director working in a broad stylistic range of theatre, opera, dance and film. She has contributed to productions for multiple seasons with American Players Theater, Madison Opera, Kanopy Dance, Four Seasons, Music Theatre of Madison, Madison Repertory Theatre and Forward Theater where she is and Advisory Company Member. She is the recipient of the Performance and Choreography award from the Wisconsin Dance Council among many other recognitions. 

A freelance writer, Maureen is the co-author along with Anna Paskevska, of Getting Started in Ballet (2016, Oxford University Press), and has contributed to Art Intercepts, See Chicago Dance, Dance Magazine, Dance Teacher Magazine, Dance Studio Life and The Capital Times. She wrote and directed Beautiful View, a collection of monologues that may or may not have something to do with the moon, which premiered in Madison in January of 2019.

As a much sought after photographer, Maureen applies her compositional expertise and artistic eye toward creating resonant images of performance, people, architecture and nature.
